Understanding autism - 3 hours

With 1 in 100 people in the UK estimated to have a diagnosis of autism, it is highly likely that we will all come into contact with someone with autism in both our professional and personal lives.


Having a greater understanding of the theory of autism, its core difficulties and how these present in people wth autism enables us to provide the best education, care and support.


This course explores the current understanding of autistic spectrum conditions, how this affects indivduals on the spectrum, and covers a brief outline of ways in we can support those with autism.


This course covers:

  • What is autism?
  • Exploring the core difficulties of social communication and social interaction.
  • Sensory processing differences.
  • Stress and anxiety.
  • Simple support strategies.


This is a 1/2 day course delivered in your setting. (A certificate of attendance will be provided).


Cost £200 (up to 20 people).


This course can be offered with 'Using visual support and structure' as a whole day.

Expenses charged at 45p per mile outside of HU postcode  and accommodation charged if required.
